The Choirs at Minneapolis Community and Technical College
We have three different choir options available – College Choir, Vocal Ensemble and Lunchbreak Choir. Read on for more detailed descriptions. For details on how to join, click here.
The MCTC College Choir (listed in the course catalogue as MUSL 1210) is made up of members of the MCTC community who love to sing. No previous musical background is required for membership in this chorus, and there is no need to audition. All you need is a willingness to work hard, a love of music, and a desire to sing with others.
The College Choir meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:45-2:00 in F2600.
The MCTC Vocal Ensemble (listed in the course catalogue as MUSL 1220 – Vocal Ensemble) is an auditioned choir made up of members of the MCTC community who have some previous musical experience, and want more of a musical challenge. All interested students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to audition.
The Vocal Ensemble meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15-12:30 in F2700.

The MCTC Lunchbreak Choir is made up of MCTC staff and faculty. It rehearses once a week with the Vocal Ensemble. Some choral singing experience and familiarity with music notation are expected. This choir performs publicly with the other ensembles at least once per semester. If you are a non-student employee of MCTC, you are eligible to join this choir. Information on how to join will come via the in-house newsletter (InsideMCTC) toward the beginning of each semester. You may also contact the director with any questions (see Contact in the navigation bar).
Lunchbreak Choir generally meets with Vocal Ensemble Wednesdays from 11:15-12:30 in F2700, but if that time does not work for you, please contact the director for alternative opportunities (see Contact in the navigation bar above).
